Alyssa + Steve- A whimsical Banff Wedding

Photographers:  Crista Lee Photography | Second Shooter: Stacey Headman Photography | Wedding commissioner: Patricia Compton | Reception: The Paint Box Lodge, Canmore | Dress: J.Crew | Flowers: Willow Haven

Alyssa+ Steve invited me to photograph three hours of their fabulously whimsical Banff Wedding.  They choose Two Jack Lake for the ceremony and were witnessed by their baby son and about 15 of their closest friends and family.  Alyssa’s dress by J.Crew was so beautiful, so vintage meets modern, with such flow’y,  dreamy…. perfection!  She also wore her hair down and that added an even extra heavily feel to the day!

Their love story devotedly began over two ‘full degrees’ ago.  Now that their graduate studies are complete and they have given birth the one of the cutest little baby boys ever- they decided to finalize their union.

Their wedding commissioner, Patricia Compton , added her delightful and tender message that she seems to flawlessly deliver each time I have the pleasure to work with her.

As the temperature was perfect, around +25, post ceremony/family portraits, Alyssa + Steve had a champagne toast and she dipped her feet in the fresh water of the lake!   From there we set off over Tunnel Mountain for our wedding portraits, as well as, a quick stop in Canmore for a stunning view of the ‘Three Sisters’.  To complete a perfect afternoon we returned to the eclectic Paint Box Lodge, Canmore, where they enjoyed their dinner and stay.

I was joined by the ever amazing Cape Cod wedding Photographer Stacey Hedman who second shot for me- so keep and eye out below for her images, as well as, assistant Cynthia Forte.

We hope you enjoy!

Above is the pretty picnic area at Two Jack Lake, Banff.  It made for a great little oasis to celebrate an intimate wedding.

Okay this may sound silly but… the photo above touched me.  Alyssa was unaware that I was taking images of her comforting her baby boy pre-ceromny. As a mother of two I think back to these moments where us moms give all of our heart and all of our energy, full heartedly, and I never had a photo taken somehow of this kind of moment.  With a 3pm ceremony her little was was overdue for his nap time , Alyssa you are a very tender mother… beautiful to watch.

Stacey - Crista-Lee, thank you SO much for bringing me along! Alyssa and Steve created such a simple and gorgeous afternoon to share their love – by far the best way to celebrate a wedding, in my book :-) Beautiful blog post!

Cassia + Jason- A beautiful Banff Elopement

When a couple are looking to share their vows and do it intimately between themselves, what other place in Canada could possible feel so peaceful as Banff National Park?

This is what Cassia + Jason, long time partners, from Fort McMurry decided to do. They made the decision to elope in the Rockies and invited me to capture their special day.  I was totally moved by their wit and sense of security, both in themselves and with in each-other.

Cassia really wanted to have nice, clean, big open sky images that can be turned into black and white.  There were so many beautiful photo’s of this handsome couple that I am having a difficult time choosing which ones to blog:)

They have three loving dogs that are a major part of their lifes so when I got wind that two of the three dogs were in Banff with them, I enthusiastically encouraged them to bring the doggies along as part of the day.  And they sure did bring a lot of extra joy on our photo adventures:)

Cassia and Jason shared their vows in the scenic meadows of Buffalo Mountain Lodge and then we traveled to the Spray Lakes reservoir for their portraits, with a nice little stop at the off leash dog park in Canmore’s Quarry Lake.

This was one of my many favorite moments of Cassia + Jason’s elopement– After their ceremony was complete she had us take a photo of them and she Facebook’ed it to all her friends and family!  Precious!  What a great surprise!

Bryana and Jamie- Love in Sunshine Meadows

Bryana and Jamie are longtime sweethearts about to set off into marital bliss this September in Edmonton!  They were also the winners of our wonderful getaway contest hosted by Weddings In Alberta, The Rimrock Hotel, White Mountain Adventures/Sunshine Meadows, Cougars Liquor and myself, the proud photographer!  Bryana, being a nurse, and Jamie, an urban planner,  are both young and well seasoned travels. They were in their car at 7:15am and drove from Edmonton to Sunshine Meadows to meet for our noon photo-shoot!  They sported the pretty much raddest outfits the peaceful meadows of Sunshine has ever experienced!

We took a lovely hike to Grizzly Lake, enjoying all of  the Western Anemone- “Hippie Head’s” covering the ground.  They are the most animated and happy looking blossom we have ever seen!  Although the full flower blossom in the meadows took place yesterday (6 days later) we were totally satisfied with the outstanding views and lush greenness throughout the entire hike!  So… a huge thank you to White Mountain Adventures!

Bryana + Jamie were such a pleasure to work with– they were so affectionate and tender, kissing and hugging each other effortlessly! After our hike this sweet couple returned to Banff to enjoy a fabulous night at the stunning Rimrock Hotel, enjoying the views from their room and drinking a very experience bottle of Champagne from Cougar’s Liquor in Canmore!  I hope you all enjoy the images!

Margaret + Will are in love and engaged!

I must say working as a wedding and portrait photographer is filling me with a lot of joy!  I am meeting all these amazing couples who are in love– It is like a real life mantra.  This being said let me introduce Margaret + Will who will be getting married in Banff this January!

This lovely couple met in Fort McMurray, AB- and wanted to share their vows in the Magical Canadian Rockies.  They took a nice road trip south last week giving us a chance to meet in real life… YEAH!  Margaret was a real trooper as she hiked though mountain meadows in high heels…  Well she had a little help by her very strong fiancee who could pick up her tiny frame without a flinch and carry her across any ground that was soft:)

As Fort McMurray is flat they wanted to have images with both mountains and their love both equally showcased!  I hope you all enjoy!
